Yesterday afternoon I tried watching Black beauty with the kids. I was worried it would be kind of boring for them but boy was I wrong! We started watching and they were enthralled. After about 20 minutes, the horses are put into a barn that catches on fire. The kids (mostly Jo and Lexey) were crying because they were so worried about the horses. I assured them that since the movie was all about the horse and it had just started, the horse would surely live! (that didn't help). Pretty much the next scene after the fire, the family had to move away and the horses got sent to live with someone else. This sent Lexey and Clare into a full on bawling mess. They could not stop crying as the movie continued and the horses were at a house with pretty mean people so I knew there were going to be some sad parts coming soon so I just shut it off. They cried another ten minutes even after it was turned off. Funny, sensitive girls.
Last night Jo woke up and said she had a bad dream. I asked if it was about Black Beauty. She said no, it was about the singing in the Christmas movie. It just kept happening over and over again. I told her to think about something she liked to do so that made her happy. I took her back to bed and laid by her for a few minutes. After a few minutes she told me I could go back to bed and then asked, "what if my dream teases me again?" I told her to think about something happy and she said, "ok, mom".
