Football games this fall

One of the things Dave was most looking forward to about our move to Texas was getting to go to a few big football games while he was here. The first game he had planned was Sept 6 BYU at Texas! He got a ticket and planned to go with a couple of other guys in the ward. The morning of the game, he was getting ready to go and Clare ran to her room and came back all decked out in her BYU gear begging to go to the game with him.  Dave checked on stub hub and there were lots of tickets left and at about 1/3 of the price Dave had paid for his a month earlier. So he printed off a ticket and Clare was able to tag along.

We packed a lunch and sent her on her way. UT is about a 3 hour car ride from our house.

It was a scorching hot Texas day!! They got to UT campus early enough to walk around a little bit.

At the game they handed out free towels and had big buckets of ice water for people to dip their towels in. It is kind of gross to think about how many sweaty people were dipping in the same bucket but when you're hot you are pretty desperate, I guess. Dave wasn't hot enough to try it, but the other two guys who went with them and Clare all did!

During half time Dave met up with his Uncle Steve and Lora.  They live up in Dallas. They are a really great family. We hope we get to meet up with them again while we're here but I think it's about 4-5 hours away so it may never happen (thanks to dave's crazy schedule.)

A very fun BYU victory 41-7!
(many of the texas fans had already gone home!)
Clare was hot and  rolled her shorts up so high it looked like she wasn't wearing any!

Another fun stadium to see is Texas A&M.  The only game that worked out for Dave to go to was Louisiana Monroe. Dave took Lexey and Calvin to that one since Clare had already had a turn. Unlike the hot game at UT, this game was really cold. It never got above 60 and everyone was freezing the entire game. Well, I think they only stayed 3/4 of the game.  Lexey was very wiggly on daves lap and didn't really enjoy watching the game. Calvin loves football in general but can't see well enough to really enjoy the game from a distance. I feel bad his vision is so bad but heaven knows we did our best.

We are hoping to get one more football experience in our time here. And this time my turn!  OHIO STATE is playing Alabama in the PLAYOFF's just one state away!!   Who wants to meet me there?
