grass is greenest here

I have to sheepishly admit to some grass is greener syndrome during residency regarding our home. We live in such a great house.  There are things about the house that are not perfect and I have found myself over the years complaining about some things but now that we are leaving in a year I see I am in the opposite position, loving the house and never wanting to leave!  Hopefully when we do move I will not waste any time focusing on things that are wrong with our home and focus on the things that are great.

I thought I'd write about a few things I love about the house. Since this will eventually be printed out and saved as our family journal it'll probably be meaningful to the kids to look back on their memories in their first childhood home.

The DECK!  I love our deck.   Quite possibly my very favorite feature of the house. I love that to walk from the kitchen to my bathroom I get to pass by the deck and enjoy the beautiful weather. I love that we can see the sunset. I love that I can sit out on the deck and watch the kids in the pool.  It's great that the kids take their food out their and have picnics. I love the kids riding scooters and little cars on the deck. I love that nobody has fallen off the deck.  I love hanging blankets, towels and clothes outside to dry on the deck (though I'm not so sure my neighbors love how classy I am when I do so.)   I love sitting on the deck to talk on the phone.

The pool. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with the pool. I hate paying for it (water, pool guy, electricity) and I hate worrying about kids drowning in it. I also hate dreaming about kids drowning in it.  That being said, I have really enjoyed having a pool at home. It is so great, especially now that I have kids old enough to swim that they can swim as often as they want to. I love that we can run outside, throw a towel down to the pool area and be at the pool. We don't have to load the car or go anywhere to swim. We are spoiled.  It's great that my kids are strong swimmers and love the water.  We have gone swimming at least once a day this summer and many days the kids go 2 or even 3 times. Some of our funnest summer memories will be those times all 6 of us were in the pool together. We also love having friends over to swim.

The neighborhood. Something we also complained about since there are no young kids and no sidewalks to play on. However, we love the hills, I love my morning walks around the neighborhood, we have great neighbors all around and it is nice not to be stacked up against our neighbors (who would probably have written a letter complaining about the noise if we were close to many of them). I like that we're a mile from the church and a mile from the school.

Bedrooms. I love how the kids bedrooms are downstairs and ours is upstairs. When we all babies it was hard to have them so far away from us, but now it is great. They can be in their rooms singing, reading, organizing dolls and stuffed animals and we are upstairs not listening to them!

I could go on, but just wanted to document how much we love Lime Grove.
