Willow Wahoos

The girls (Clare and Lexey) are doing summer swim team at our neighborhood pool. In May it was every day after school and now in June it is in the mornings. The girls each swim for an hour on their team. Clare is on team 9-10 year olds. May swim was 5-6pm and now it is 9-10am.  Lexey is on the 7-8 year old team. In May swim was 4-5pm and now it is 8-9am. We have some trouble making the 8am swim so she sometimes swims at 9 with Clares group for her practice.

It is an incredible amount of exercise the girls are getting. They swim a LOT of laps in an hour! I'm proud of them for all they're doing and love to watch them swim.

We have 5 swim meets in June. Here are pics of our most recent meet.

Lexey.

Lexey always smiles when swimming the backstroke! I love it.

The swim meets last about 4 hours. There is a lot of down time. We usually sit by the Scott's so I can chat with Rishelle and the girls hang out.  Cute Brinley

The kids get ribbons for whatever place they get.

Clare and Lexey both got first place in their last heat of the evening. Breast stroke.  Lexey actually swam about 1/2 way doing freestyle because she forgot it was breast stroke.

Clare also won her heat for breast stroke. She spent most of the race looking side to side to see how she was doing compared to everyone else.

The way scoring works at the meet is the top 3 girls for each age group race in the first heat. These count for points in scoring. The rest just line up and swim whenever. My girls aren't ranked in the top three so they just race then they race. Both are in the younger side of their age group (especially Lex who just turned 7) and are doing very well for their first time swimming on swim team.
